A sitemap has nothing to do with pagerank. Sitemaps are just for sites where not every page is accessible through the internal navigation - in other words: you shouldn't need them for a simple blog. As for unique content: it will make it harder to get links for free, and harder to rank in google - but otherwise it has nothing to do with pagerank either. Pagerank is just about the links you get: more is better.
