    Hello,

How many pages maximum users searches when he is looking for
    Content ?
    and Service ?

I think, user will not go beyond the first page.

    My Qns:
Will he/she ever bother to see apart from the first three result ?

Is there any study result available ?

Most users won't go beyond page 2 for any search, I'm pretty sure about that.
Why do you need such information anyway? Traffic on page 3-4 is not good.
Push harder and fight for the first positions if you want organic traffic.

Based on data culled from Google Analytics, search adventurers are devoted on top 10 search results.

For a popular search term, you can get some visitors from clicks on the second page. But it's a lot less than clicks from the first page.

    hello all,

thank you so much for all the reply.
Generally user does not go beyond first page...
and also, my observation is that...
user sees only the first three results..mostly.

Even if we come in the first page, in 10th position.
It is not getting any decent traffic. it is almost equal to coming in the second page. :)

I disagree with that. When I jumped from 12-13 position on second page to 9th position on first page I noticed an increase in traffic by about 20%.

I also have a site that's #18 and is getting some decent (300-400 uniques) traffic per day.

It all goes exponentially with the number of searches a term has as the probability of the user not finding what he wants and going to the second page is greater.

According to my experience, around 4 of every 5 users go to first 3 links on the first page, the rest will surely receive traffic, but they'll most likely share the 1/5. There are many factors especially the quality of releveancy in particular searches that affect this, so this is just my broad first-hand experience.

It would also depend on the users' resolution. My laptop is 900px high, therefore I see the first 6 listings in full (without and Google Lightbox or Ads at the top), down to 600px high, you only see the first 2 listings in full. This theoretically must also devise what position is best to be in.

This is a very good point, from end user experience.
Many might have failed to think of this..

    the moral is good. :D
But do you think, ppl will do that ?
I think, 95% of the user will stick to first page. :)
But there is no data to prove that. Just a Guess.

I tend to stop after two pages and try a different search term, so like someone said earlier it is a good idea to fight for the top spots :)

Interesting read folks, thanks for the answers.

It's true, most folk tend not to go past 2/3 pages.

I would say about 2-3 pages. Or maybe even the first few listings.

    /off-topic question.
Well, my site used to be #3 on google for "myspace at school"
I just checked today, and they moved it to the 2nd page number 5. What gives? Nothing on my site changed..
