how about links from created blogspot and wordpress blogs just for the purpose of having a backlinks? how much do they weigh?
If you think of link farms, forget about them. If you have a wordpress.com blog on the same topic, great! Just don't overdo it. And be careful, Wordpress.com doesn't allow montetizing of their blogs nor do they like to be used as a source of backlinks, SY
Hello Mr Onlineimexpert, What is value of pr in traffic generation?, Can you tell me that why pr link important for us?
Do proper keyword research so you'll get more traffic to your site. As long as your content interested for any visitors, you'll get a link from them.
Link building is done ultimately to achieve better rankings in SERPs and traffic is automatic from organic searches from then on. Yes, you can go either way, you can concentrate on link building through places from where you can get traffic and that will also slowly but naturally improve your SERP rankings and ultimately it reaches the same stage where i have stated above.
PR is very important, and it will increase only if you start to get natural High PR backlinks. (not spamy or mass PR0 backlinks). If you can get a subpage of your site to get to the top search engine results with long tail keyword and it start to get traffic from Google directly. The increase of the traffic to that page will increase the PR of that page without the calculation of the PR of backlinks to that page. Traffic can also increase PR.
But you didn't explain the importance of PR yet. I really don't think, PR plays any role in traffic or search engine rankings. I can show you thousands of PR 0 site ranking on top, and their competitor site with PR 3 and above are sill fighting to reach first page.
OK. Let me explain how it works exactly. let us asum that there are 2 page optimized for the same keyword (the same search term exactly for instance "one way link building" and both pages optimized exactly the same with quality relveant content on the page. Both pages are HTML and one have PR3 and the other have PR2 or less. I am 100% sure that when some one search for the term "one way link building" the PR3 page will rank higher on the results page. However, some times a page is optimized for the term "link building" for higher exposure, and have a PR3, the other one is optimized for "one way link building" for more specific searches and lower exposure and have PR1. so for sure when you search for the term "one way link building" the page with the lower PR will be higher on the reasults, but if you search for the term "link building this page could be on page 20 (result 200) or even more and the page with PR3 could be on the first 3 pages. And to give you a real time example, go to google and search for the term "one way link building" I have published a page on squidoo with this term just to prove my point to a friend of mine, and my squidoo page is on google first page rank 9 on the results and it's increasing with PR0 only. within month from now, It will get PR2 and get to the top 3 results, and i will not build for it any new backlinks, I will only post a small post about it on my blog. You are also invited to chick it in month from now.
Am i missing something here? surely the most major way of getting traffic is by creating links of some form?
Why not make the message short, ride with the social media bandwagon to increase your traffic... ...but doesn't it also look like link building?, if you look at it deeper, for you to gain traffic you build/post links for other members to see and visit, right? then your actually link building with the intent of gaining more traffic.
Having gone through the discussion/all the replies, I'm sure that link building is not wasting of time. Without building links you can't get SERP or PR. For example: If I'm trying to build links on authority sites like Dmoz, Wikipedia, also .edu or .gov sites. Here, I'm not expecting too much from Dmoz or Wikipedia or education or government related sites but my expectation is to get visitors from Search Engines. Because I have planed something to sell some products or services to those who are coming from search engines. Moreover, we have put title, and we have optimized keywords which are to be searched in search engines, so visitors from search engines are those visitors who are looking for the specific things from searches. So what I'm trying to say is keep one aim at a time, whether you want to get it from search engines or from other related sites.
Not all links will bring you traffic right away, but they can increase your position for certain phrases in various search engines, and that is what increases your traffic in long term.
I think a lot of it depends on how competitive your keywords are, I have had new sites (PR0 no backlinks) with good content and all the sudden they got decent traffic on not so competitive key words. Then I did a bunch of link work and they were PR2-PR-3 still basically the same traffic until I added more content. I have also had new sites in more competitive arenas that had basically no traffic while new and as the backlinks got better traffic started coming in through the SEs. I didn't spend the time to study the rankings but traffic usually tells that story on it's own.
Actually organic traffic is the best traffic we can get.. we have to do bath traffic generating and increase the back links
Ofcourse we all understand your point but link building isn't a waste of time since link building can boost your SERP and SERP can boost your traffic.
When you comment on 1 million blogs it's hard to tell if every link will bring you traffic but who cares anyway? It's a numbers game!
