Hi i see that almost everyone here in Dp has one directory at least.. but i didnt see the why, i live in brazil and here i never heard of directories.. just a few questions: 1 - why anyone will pay 10~20 dollares to insert hes site in directory!? 2 - worth it insert adsense in directory!? 3 - i know that niche directories is a nice idea, but we already have google to found sites and !? cya
its for link building and improving page rank, not for searching really. Adsense can be used yes, but not as well as on other sites. I have never bought myself a directory listing. The top directories have PR7 homepages, but by the time i navigate to my cat, it loses PR down to 3 or 4 so i dont bother!
My two niche directories for moms and dads are being built for two reasons: 1 - To build a collection of the best Websites available for a mom or a dad. You'll find many of the sites in these directories can be found on google or yahoo, but only after visiting about 4 times the number of sites. 2 - To allow a Website owner or business to reach these niches affordably, as well as, assist in their SEO efforts. Over time they'll improve as a resource, get bookmarked more often, get linked to more often, and be increasingly valuable for sponsors and listings buyers.
Well its what the cool people are doing.... and after they find that they cant do it, as its to much time consuming or actual work then they sell them and take a loss as well as the patrons who helped build them... thx malcolm
"down to 3 or 4 so i dont bother!" - A relevant life-time listing on a PR3 or PR4 page for $6-$10 is pretty good.
nahhhh over worked and stressed ...... But i enjoy my work so it all works out in the end thx malcolm
Are you guys making decent money from directory ownership? Seems like a competetive area that requires a lot of work.
danielldf, if your anywhere near Recife you should pop over to my place and I will introduce you to directories
$10 or $20 for a high PR(4/5) for 1 year/permanent one-way links ( less than $2/month) - Nothing can beat this..
I started a web directory because it was something new to me and I wanted to learn how to do it. Turns out to be the best decision that I have ever made in my life
Way to go, you just re-inforced Matt Cutts theory that most directories are a load of bullshit and sell links for PR.
