Hi there, I'm a new domain owner, I started my first site as an experiment to learn more through doing, as I signed up to affiliates, adsense, the usual. Glad to be here and sure i'll be reading a lot in the future I have a quick question regarding google, yesterday when I searched 'Game Bargain'. My website came up at the top of the list. Today it doesn't.... it's on the next page I think, and what is there is a different page to what was originally number one. Also when I actually do a site: search it has a different (and broken) link to what was there when I did a site search a few days ago. My question being, did I dream being top rank, or does rank change daily and, does anyone know why I would have fallen down overnight? I've read lots about google and adsense and so on but haven't come across this info yet, i'd appreciate any advice I apologise if this is in the wrong place
This happens often at new sites. Usually the results in Google search change day after day, because are other sites based on that keyword which keep adding content. So, if you continue to post new and original content, your site will rank at the top again. Good Luck.
lumpy is right that a new site often gets a temporary push to the top, beofre dropping to a more natural position The other thing to consider - were you signed into any google applications? - adsense, gmail, anything - if so you were seeing personalised search based on your previous search habits.
Thanks guys, I may have been signed into google analyticator or adsense or something yup. Just have to keep adding content then!!! Analyticator hates me, it says i've had 3 visits, when tradedoubler and buyat and other places clearly say a lot more. I've tried to fix the code twice and can't be bothered with it anymore.
Hello GameBargain It always happens for the sites in google. Google updates the sites everyday and based on the algorithm it places the sites in different pages. To see your page in the fist page you need to do seo for your site. Because Search engines rank the sites based on the traffic, content, backlinks, and many more. So go for SEO who looks after this..
No everything stays exactly the same. Once you reach number 1 your site will be there forever and ever. Good question though. Time for Google to just lay everyone off now that we have the perfect search results.
So if sites on the front page of google stay there for ever and ever why do we bother chasing for a place?
Try to do some link building with dofollow links. Keyword links will help you a lot in getting your list back to top.
