was Nirvana REALLY all that awesome?

well, i always thought that Nirvana was... a bit overrated. They definitely wouldn't be nearly as famous today if Cobain hadn't died. Nevermind was an amazing album, and don't get me wrong, they were great, but were they really THAT great? reply. gimme your thoughts.

They were great, they were a breath of fresh air in a white bread vanilla world at the time, and almost single handedly revived alternative music, this is why they are revered.

We need another great alternative band like Nirvana, to sweep away the sludge that clutters the radio waves today.

 

They are overrated. The drugs seem to overwhelm the music a bit.

 

A bit overrated yes, but then again, they did pretty much start that grunge type of music, make it well known and that, so that is why people say they were so great.

 

Deffinatly overrated. Not bad, but by no means great. Far better bands to be listened to personally

Nirvana was really good in a time when all other bands were sucking. I like some of their songs, though.

 

i haven't heard of them until kurt cobain died.
