This guy, Simcha Jacobovici has a new doc out saying that Jesus was married? whats that about...? no way.... I found an upcoming interview... http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/video.php?id=1437 this guy cna't be for real...
There was a show on the discovery channel last night about this...what the guy found is not conclusive evidence that Jesus was married...furthermore, he is riding it for all he can and making lots of money off of it...
All this story is based on the Gnostic biblical apocrypha found in Nag Hammadi, Egypt in 1945. There is a scripture of Mary that was found there, but the whole plot development of this story is highly speculative and loose and there is absolutely no evidence that this Mary was Mary Magdalene as the story suggests. I think that you can find all these writings online, if you search them. But that of course would require real reading and a passion for history, not wild stories. Regards, George
geegel, I watched the show, it also quoted the Acts of Phillip. These were written around 400ad. Can you imagine? These guys will go to any length to render the glory of Christ ineffective. So, let'sd get this straight, they deny the gospel but want the acts of Phillip as proof positive. They trash one scripture for one apostacy. Both spirtually based, as lost as one is. Unbelievable.
I personally like how they only took the DNA from the Jesus and Mary Magdaline boxes....why not test the whole family??
d16... the DNA thing could be a trap, a pratfall... the thing is not do all these bones match, but rather how on earth do they think they have the DNA of Jesus? If we fall into their trap then one day they just might actually test all of the bones and if these do turn out to be DNA related, then we have fallen into their trap of first stating that the DNA is not finished... not that the DNA is not proven to be of Jesus in the first place. The devil is a wily coyote.
Jesus was never married. All this recent bs stuff coming out is a bunch of bologni. the ones who would truely know for sure are the original christians such as my ancestors in lebanon and from the canaan region and no where in their ancient language of aramaic or their ancient traditions is there even an inkling of a rumor that jesus ever married. Remember jesus lived in the light not the darkness. He never needed to keep any secret as it went against everything our lord taught and believed in.
It may be possible, but we still have no proff. On the other hand you shpuld know, that people were married very early that time.
Of course jesus was married because Maria Magdalena went to the grave of the Jesus and at that time only wives were allowed to go there...
why a fiction ... it is fact that wives of jews were the only one allowed to go to the grave of their husbands. And Magdalena went to the grave .. Now you can interpret this in any way you want
You are right.it could be afiction that it was her who visited. You should know that the bible writers that time, wanted to make a closed picture of him. that`s why they may just put her into the story.
Just to bring the facts in the argument. Here is the full text of the Gospel of Philip. Try to actually read it before engaging in debate. Take this translation with a pinch of salt as it might not be entirely accurate. Also please note the lacunae, often found in the text. On another note, it seems that there truly is a genuine writing coming from one of the 12 apostles in the Nag Hammadi scrolls, as this one dates from about 40 AD, not 400 AD. It is The Gospel Of Thomas and I think that it is worth a read, again taken with some restraint. Enjoy! Best regards, George
not true..if that is the case, then the disciples would have never gone, Jesus was buried in a Garden, anyone could go...I would tend to think that if the Son of God had been married one Gospel would have recorded it...instead, we have 4 different gospels (a lot of other ones as well) that mention nothing of Jesus being married...
I think all the stories about Jesus not being married and ascending were made up just to make money and grant power.... for and to religious leaders. I wonder how many books they sold...
