Warnings vs infraction

Disclaimer: This is not a thread complaining about my warning or infraction.

Today I got a warning here at DP saying

"Post/PM/Visitor Message Spamming".

What I did was start a thread in the LINK BUILDING section asking HOW BLOG LINKS AFFECTED SERP's. Well I am not sure what rule I violated here, but I see that my post has been deleted too.

I also received an infraction on Sep 22nd 2009 for "Thread Started In Wrong Category" which is again a mistake because what i had done is give a list of articles which I have at hand to guest post at blogs and was done in the BLOGGING section. This post has also been deleted. I had PMed a MOD asking if it was a mistake or not, but yet got no reply back.

I agree that one other infraction i got for "Running Up Post Count/Post Has No Value" was what i deserved because I posted in a sales thread asking about more details, paypal info etc which could have gone in a PM. However, the reason I did was so that others would know I am planning to buy that and he doesn't sell it twice. Anyway i broke the rule this time so I have no problem with mods giving me an infraction there.

But could I get the reason for the warning and the first infraction? I know the staff has the last word. I just wanted to clear this up because the next time I dont do things wrong. To the best of my knowledge I havent broken any rules. But I certainly would like an update on this issue.

Also what is the exact difference b/w a warning and an infraction? can warning turn into infraction?

 

Warning is there to tell that next time you do the same thing you'll get an infraction. Infractions lead to BAN.

 

Thats fine. But can any moderators please explain to me how i have broken the rules? I am not criticizing you. The reason I am asking is because I did not feel that I broke any rules. So I may continue to post this way. I dont want to get banned here

 

^^ did you check the infraction E-mail you got? Most of the mods write reason in there

 

yes. The reasons have been quoted above. How can you possibly say asking a question about whether link building using blogs give you any SERP boost in the link building section get me an infraction for "Post/PM/Visitor Message Spamming". Also where else do I post that I have so and so articles to be guest posted on blogs, other than blogging section?

 

This should not go into the BST Section, IMO it belongs to SEO section or the marketing sub-section.

Never. I was not asking for buying links from Dp owners. I was doing a case study about how blog review links affect link building campaigns. i was asking people about their experiences. People were sharing that without any confusion either. It is never anything that involves money or trade. its user opinion which means an open forum!!!

I am taking a link back from their sites for guest posting. besides I offer guest post only for blogs. I did not ask for money also.

So you have zend certified engineer in your signature. Does that mean you cant ask questions relating to zend? I was only asking how effective blog links were in users opinion. I was planning to spend a large amount of money this time. so I wanted DP users opinion. i was planning to buy blog links and not guest post them!!! If you read through my thread you will understand that my intentions were very clear. It was genuine exchange of ideas going on.

One more question. So if someone offers SEO services in their signature link, they cant post questions or exchange ideas about SEO? Will they get a warning too?
