Warning to all Google Local Users

I've just lost my position in Google Local search because of a change in the algo...

I had My Business name + keyword. Lets say I listed my business as

    "Silverkey Locksmith Service Manhattan"

Now I know I should of just listed this service as

    "Silverkey"

and my site would still be there today.

But instead, myself and all of my competitors who have uses the "business name + keyword" trick have been removed from Google local.

Any advice on what to do next. The listing does appear as still active. Will I just resubmit or edit?

Well across three industry sectors I've been monitoring this is has happened all in the past 3 weeks.

Yes, a small number of businesses are still getting away with the "business name + keyword" strategy but most ones I've been
    watching are getting caught out.

As Google and everyone else has always said, "tricks" will always get you in trouble.

They want you to use Adwords. Use Bingwords instead.

Why do people feel like they can get away with "tricks" and then wonder why Google puts them back in place?

Yeah tricks will get you in trouble. In the meantime you surge to the top and make the money. Sometimes things catch up to you sometimes they don't. But if you don't try you never get anything accomplished. There is nothing unethical about adding a location name to your business name. So Google doesn't like it now... still speculation... could be another factor. Now you figure out what they do like then do that.

Ultimately any SEO is a "Trick".
