    Warning Received for "Like" Trading

This is a friendly reminder that you may not be completely aware of our rules. You can find our rules and policies over here: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/help/

Keep in mind that continued violation of our rules can lead to your account being suspended temporarily or permanently as seen fit.

You can find a list of your warnings here: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/members/hakkimone.17186/
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have never asked to anyone like my postings ... No one requested to me to like their postings ... I have received only nine likes in my life time of membership in DP ... I am not given any likes to other ones thread in passed two or three weeks, I have rare account activities in passed one or two months ... So there is no reason for the 3 warning points... Please give me the proof caused for the warnings ... Thank you ...

@hakkimone, the whole subject of *like trading* is a tricky one at best. How does one determine with any accuracy that this has indeed taken place? And if convicted of this offense, then how does one prove innocence? I don't know for sure what happened in your particular case. But what *probably* happened is that someone reported you, and a mod investigated and found that there was reason to give out the warning(s).

This thread *may* cause a mod to reinvestigate and who knows? It could be reversed(unlikely), but then again I don't know why you got the warning for this.

You have been giving many likes to your... co-worker? I'm talking about anzilone. I assume you know each other well since you both list the same website in your profiles. Plus we have other proofs... So, even if it's your friend, don't abuse the like system in the future. We keep track of everything. ;)

there IS illegal like trading going on in the forums. The op seems legit to me, what is more suss is people with 6 posts creating new threads in the BST section, (means that their first 3 posts had a 100% like ratio, which just isnt possible.)
with a quick search, the first result in google brings up a site where you can buy likes on posts in digital point.

to stop this, it might be possible to come up with a script that views all likes given to people with 10 likes or less, and sees if there is some sort of a pattern. For example, a standard user might give out 1% of likes given to new user, with 99% going to established users. But if a group of new users get alot of likes from members, and the members giving out those likes have a 50% ratio of giving likes to new users, then it is a little suspicious. -> just a suggestion..... probly better ways though.

Just out of interest, why were his warning points removed if you know he was abusing the like system?
it doesn't send a very good message to others who are doing the same.

If I may hazard a guess, it's a case of when in doubt, rule on the side of the member? If that is the case then this is a good way to proceed with the issue of like trading. In other words we will get the benefit of the doubt.
Nothing wrong with that, if this is the case.

The operative word here is "were", as in past tense.

    Ok ok clarification:

He was giving likes to the other member, but he wasn't trying to get him established. Since "like trading" is mostly done to get the other member established, this time we decided to remove the warning. However, this doesn't mean you guys can like every crappy post your friends make and get away with that. :D
