Rules Warning Received for Inappropriate / Disallowed Post

So I received a warning a few minutes ago for Inappropriate/Disallowed Post.

Perhaps the moderators can enlighten me as to why? They didn't include any details.

    The thread is here: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/high-traffic-adult-website.2689027/

I asked for the OP to send me a NDA via PM. I've been on this forum for 3 years, and think I understand the rules fairly well.

It is against the rules to ask for more information on a sale via PM? I'd assume on a $3000 site, the owner would want everyone to sign an NDA, as is standard in this industry. Not sure how else that could happen aside from PM or email. If you think I'm going to spend $3,000 on a site without any proof of income, traffic information, etc., you're out of your mind.

Can someone please enlighten me as to what exactly I did wrong by requesting a NDA via PM? Perhaps I should have PM'ed him first instead of posting? (i.e. the "Useless Crap" clause in the rules) No wait...I did that. Never heard back, so figured he might have PMs disabled or such. Wanted to let him know to contact me. Not sure how else to do that aside from actually making a post asking him to contact me. My telepathy isn't quite what it used to be. Finally heard back tonight, 5 days later.

    Thanks!!

Oh, they will simply reply that you ask for PM and it's against the rules, doesn't matter how long you have been in this forum, doesn't matter if you ever break any rules, doesn't matter if you usually post reliable and informative content, just take the crap and deal with it. This is DP rules, points

OH NO....you got a warning....so bloody what, hopefully you won't go to prison for it, you broke the rules, got warned for it...deal with it.
If people didn't get warned for making useless posts the forum would be more full of pointless crap than it is already.

I think the OP's point is valid. He contacted the user by PM and since there was no reply he posted it in thread so that the user can contact him. However, OP please realize that if mods allow all the users to post "PM me" kind off posts, it would unnecessarily fill the thread and the public might miss the important replies/posts.

So, just neglect the warning you have got as it would expire anyways in sometime.

I never read the rules on any forum or website i register.I think no one does until they into situations like this.
But it is really against the rules to tell someone into a Sales thread to PM you or Contact me ?
I`m not being sarcastic or anything.I`m really curios.
Or should we only message them on their profile?I`d really like to know this too.

    Cheers!

Its always better to PM the user or post on his/her profile when the post is purely intended for the user (something like PM me the details). Public doesn't want to be aware that you have asked the user to PM you.

However there might be exceptions! But, the site mods are now focused on reducing such posts

No offence but I don't think his point is valid at all, he can't just circumvent the rules to suit himself, he obviously knew he was breaking the rules when he made the post so should have been expecting to receive a warning for it.
I just can't see the point of starting threads complaining about warnings, they're nothing to worry about...unless he has a habit of breaking the rules and gets them on a regular basis.
lol...why don't you read the rules??...it takes 5 minutes and if more people did there would be less pointless threads like this one.

I think it's a valid point indeed (and no, I never get warnings or infractions). The last one happened so long ago, I don't even remember when it happened. I'm just trying to figure out why I got a warning, especially in the Marketplace where the whole point is to...I don't know...buy and sell stuff? I can see in any other part of the forum how that it would be a bad thing. You don't want a thread full of "PM me". "I sent you a PM", etc. But the marketplace? Especially when a seller won't contact you for a week? I don't know if they have their PMs disabled or not. I don't know if they ever got the notification. I've been PM'ed many times here, and never got email notification (probably marked as spam), or missed the notification at the top, or just never checked the forum, since I didn't receive any email notifications. Can't really post on somebody's profile, since you get no notification of that. At least I haven't the last couple times someone posted on mine. So that's useless.

Do I care about the warning? Absolutely not. Just noting how silly it is in the Marketplace.
    Oh well...

And furthermore, when I post an ad in the Marketplace, it put it there so it actually sells, not so it just sits around. If somebody (or multiple people) would be trying to get a hold of me for a week with no luck, I'd expect them to make a post in the forum too.

If he couldn't be bothered to reply to your pm for 5 days what makes you think he's a reliable person to do business with in the first place, personally I would have just walked away.

Thanks for the business tips! I'll be sure to incorporate that into my business practices from now on. I have been closing 6-figure deals while most people here were still in diapers. Not really interested in your business suggestions, as what you would or would not do business-wise in this instance has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

Again...you have completely missed the point. It's not that he couldn't be bothered (though that's potentially the case), it's that I have NO IDEA IF HE ACTUALLY RECEIVED THE PM OR NOT. I don't know how to make that more clear. Like I said, I miss notifications all the time. The emails get marked as spam, the emails don't come through at all, etc. Even the little red notification next to the Inbox has failed before. Happens on the Xenforo forums I have as well.

I just don't see the big deal with asking the OP to contact me, in the Marketplace, that's all. That's how business gets conducted and items get sold, which [I think] is the point of the Marketplace. Any other place on the forum? Sure! But the marketplace shouldn't be regulated to such minutia.

Wanting the NDA is good business practice and isn't why you received a warning.

The thread should be saved for public questions and public feedback.

Now, had you posted that you were concerned that your earlier PM hadn't been responded to then your post would have been valid as "public feedback" - giving a heads-up to others that there may be issues with the seller.

The mods aren't telepathic either, there was no indication in your post that you had already tried to contact the seller.

Coming from you Ms. Sarahk, I'll take that explanation. You're one of the mods I truly like (and respect), so I'll just let it go. I wasn't concerned anyway, was just more curious than anything else, as there was no explaianation given.

    Thanks Sarah!
