On Friday I started having a series of pop-ups being loaded onto my computer. This was using IE6 win XP and the blocker enabled. To say the least they were d$#@ annoying. I ran full system scans with Norton and windows defender. Nothing was detected. I started looking at the addon programs for IE6 and found one I did not recognize. l_exnet.dll . None of the search engines have any information about this file. That is most unusual. I searched for and found it on my hard drive. It likes to hide in c:\windows\system32. The file size is 16.5 kb. The creation date on my computer matched very closely the time I started having the problems. I disabled it the tools/internet options/programs/manage add on section of the tool bar. I have experienced no pop ups since I did that. I did visit some sites that morning that wanted to install stuff and I refused by closing the window. They must have had a blind opt in on the close button. I am posting here so the bots can pick this up and get the word out.
