Warning! Mouseover ALL links in PMs - phishing

From time to time efforts are made to phish DigitalPoint users' login information, often via PM.

If you receive an unexpected PM (or even an expected one), quickly mouseover the url to check any links it may contain. They should point to forums.digitalpoint.com, the same as is currently in the address bar.

If they point to anything else, for example, forums-digitalpoint.net, it's a phishing site.

DO NOT enter your login information - it will be used against other DigitalPoint members and chances are you will also lose your account here.

Treat it like you would Paypal or a banking site - would you click on a link in an email and happily enter your banking details? Obviously not.

Thanks for that. So if we get such PM, should we inform mods or simply delete them?

It is glad to note that the dp management is doing its bit by promptly baning people who indulge in phishing, or sending unsolicited PMs.

Good information! Thanks. I always mouse over all the unknown links before clicking, though.

It is good to know isn't it? :)

But honestly, it's a forum full of webmasters, i'm sure most will notice it's a phishing scam and not enter any information.

Great post! Better is to mouseover link everywhere, in posts too (when it is supposed to be a important site where you have some money). You never know when you can fall in some scam, I'm checking the link also in that link bar if it is really eg: paypal.com and not some another fake site.
