    Hello,

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this.

Today I installed a new wordpress blog

Now I see this on the top of the site:

What's the cause of this and how do I get rid of it? Thanks.

    -Michael

Do clean reinstall, download fresh wordpress files from wordpress.org.

On the Wordpress forums, other people have posted similar problems. Looks like it's caused by a plugin, usually one that performs caching.
If you have any caching plugins installed, try turning them off one at time. Then try the other plugins if that does not work.

Other things that mess up Wordpress include invalid characters in the config file and incorrect folder permissions.

Thanks for all your help here!

Yesterday I did a clean reinstall. Which worked.

Then after i added the recommended plug ins from an ebook I downloaded, I got the same problem.

So I figured it out. it was the "Spam Free" plug in by Jordy Kroeze that was the cause of it.

So does anybody have a good Spam Blocker plug in that's good?

Never had to look at anything beyond Akismet- it does a very good job even today. You need a key for it, but it is well worth it.

Absolutely! Akismet owns the Wordpress spam filter market, if there is such a thing. :D
That Spam Free plugin by Jordy has only been out for a couple of months, maybe the eBook was recommending the WP-SpamFree plugin.

Instead of using other spam block plugins i suggest you to go with Akismet only. Its really helpful.

Actually the "WP-SpamFree" plugin is the one that was recommended. But somehow when I did a search in the wordpress backoffice that one didn't show up. So I went with the closest thing which was "Spam Free".

Maybe I'll just stick with Akismet for now.

thanks everyone for your input here. It really helps!
