It leaves trail of when infraction was issued.

I believe warnings work just like infractions but they don't take any points from you.

Lol ok this might sound weird, but op is not asking how they work, just wants to know why they even have an expiry date when they add no points to your total infractions ?

Maybe its just default feature of VB and we should actually be talking to makers of VB :p . So, seems like a thread far far away from its original location (aka from vbulletin.com) :D

As Shannon said BUT with more detail ( Since I know Shannon has a TON of other things to do )

    I will explain it ,

The reason is ( drum roll please )

See when a MOD issues a "warning" they ARE NOT issuing points , ( NICE of them )

BUT - if you do that SAME THING before the warning ends ,

They can and sometimes WILL double point you on the next infraction, that will have points, because you had a FAIR warning already

Its kinda like how when a Police officer issues you a warning, He still writes the warning on paper so its on record.....

So if you are a "chronic" whatever ( bumper, spam, post hog / jacker )

Remember you are ON THE RECORD :)

    Hope that clears things up

Yeah, that's what I was trying to explain. :p They are actually infractions that are worth 0 points, that's why they have an expiration date.

LOL but 0+1 is still 1 :p, so how does it help having an expiration date ? Its not like after 3 months system will go oh lets see what 1-0 = today :p .

Its like putting a sundaybrew for auction/sale at fixed price of 0$ and putting an expiry date on auction. That just makes no sense he would be sold out the very 1st second :D ofcourse only chicks will try to pick him up. :D Unless he is good handyman, than maybe guys might try too

Ya give him warnings worth 5 infraction points. :D .

You must be doing something really bad that you get infractions all the time, and i think they give you only 1 warning for an offense and if you repeat the same think its an infraction the next time onwards. :p

Lets just say the VB coders coded it that way. Makes for cut and paste type coding.

A member sent me this explanation:

the expire date on infraction warnings is 2 fold.
#1 it acts as a caution with the end date.
#2 the database can't apply nor remove them without an end date.

    Explanation sounds good to me.
