I am starting this thread in hope that many other webmasters with sites hosted under a free byethost subdomain will not have they'r site deleted. This is a warning for anyone that has a free subdomain website at byethost or other reseler websites for byethost. I just tryed to make this work on it and they deleted my website and now eaven if i put it up agen It dosent work. I think the .htaccess file messed it all up. I am not trying to to say that it is digitalpoint's fallt ... IT IS NOT. I just want to warn people that if you have a free subdomain website at byethost ...DONT USE IT it will mess it up. I think it is because they think you want to mess around with theyr forced banner.1 month of backlinking and advertising down the drain ... I am verry unhappy right now . VERRY ... To digital point: please dont take this as an offence, i think it si great that digitalpoint is sharing this great program. Also dose anyone know of a nice looking free subdomain host?
well i got it up and running agen. I had to delete my subdomain and reregister it ... but I am happy that it works now.
I am byethost's reseller for a long time. I operate multiple sites and never got some customers seriously complained. If you can't access your site nor cPanel nor FTP, your account has been suspended. Possible reasons: -you were inactive for 30 days -you were violeting Terms -you run out allowed resources (most likely CPU quota) If you can log in to cPanel, create an ticket and ask what's going on. Cheers
My account hasn't been deactivated. But I had problems in the sense that when I uploaded the .htaccess file the server deleted my files. I uploaded agene but still when i entered the address it was just took me to the file can not be found screen with all the adds. and when I accessed the sub domain in my cpanel it said something like: "this address does not point to your user name blablabla". My question is: Am I allowed to put a .htaccess file in there and if I am do you know of a proper way to do this? or is it against the TOS.
Yes, you're allowed to use custom .htaccess Name it, for example "404.htaccess" , then upload it via FTP/File Manager, and then rename it to just ".htaccess" , and it will work.
