Warning for everybody considering buying an escort directory script

Hi guys,

A while ago I decided to go ahead and purchase a platform on which to deploy a new directory (keeps development time / cost down).

The script I went with came from here:

Now, I met the guy face to face and he assured me he was working on a new release which would be a lot more fluid, shown me the admin panel etc etc.

I paid him £600 and a few weeks later asked him to install it for me (which was all part of the deal).

This is where things started going downhill.

Once it was installed I checked it, the configuration file had the wrong user / pass. I rectified it and it still wasn't working properly, I had to manually check a *lot* of other files in order to find the hard coded links he'd left in there.

Once I'd rectified that I came to learn a f****ng heap of the stuff on there didn't work (the search, the links etc etc etc).

After trying to contact him by phone and email he's still ignoring me.

So Neil, if you're reading this I hope to God you never cross my path again. Nobody steals money from me.

I suggest if you're thinking of buying a directory script you look elsewhere.

You should never buy a script until you thoroughly test (backend and files) a demo version. especially that kind of $$$.

He sat down and demonstrated it to me when I met him. I took it for granted all the simple features would work.

At some point once I've decoded and fixed everything I will be releasing the source

Its very good script, i have personally used it.

 

I purchased his script for $1200 Australian dollars. I spent months emailing back and forth with a list of functions/features that did not work.
What annoyed me most was the script is advertised as being 'Ready to use out of the box' ... BULLS#*T IT IS!!!
It was nowhere near being ready to use.
I had a list of 38 individual faults with basic functions that this script is supposed to perform that it did not.
I have been working through them and I'm slowly getting there but unfortunately I've even had to disable some features until I have time to fix those also.
(Problem is - I'm not a programmer so it takes some time for me to get my head around it)

The only way I can justify my loss of money is by telling myself, "Well...It's been a good training session in PHP, Javascript and SQL databases"

Don't buy from that guy! There are many decent and inexpensive escort directory scripts. Be sure to check the features list and demo before buying.
