Thought I'd share this experience here. I made a bad business decision of installing an IPS (Invision Power) forum update a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've been hit by numerous errors - the most popular being the "IPS Driver Error". Since then, I've paid loads of money to upgrade to a powerful server and for a new forum skin to accomodate the update. Alas, it was all in vain because the forum was down most of the time and my daily traffic dwindled from 11,000+ to 3,000+ IPS Driver Error is a known bug and which IPS didn't openly tell their clients about it. I should've guess it from the message at the IPS Client Area regarding support times: "We are experience extremely high ticket volume due to the recent release of IP.Board 2.2.0. We sincerely apologize for the delays during this time." I understand that the bug will only be fixed in the next software update (2.2.2) so we'll either have to bear with it or pay for IPS support. IPS Update + New Server + New Skin = More Downtime + Less Visitors Moral of the story: don't rush to update or install patches if you've no problems with your current setup - if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
