I just wanted to warn you all about the hosting company I have been using: Streamline.net Whatever you do, stay clear of them or you are asking for trouble. Their support is the worst I have ever encountered, they are rude, inconsistent, avoid having to do anything and send you around whenever they can and incompetent. My biggest problem with them was just 3-4 weeks ago when my bank issued me a new card (the old one expired) So the payment failed with them.. I went in and updated my card information and sent them a support ticket that everything was taken care of. 21 hours later they shut down my server and 30minutes after that they charged my card and replied to the support ticket: the server would be up within 24 hours) 3 days after they stopped responding to my mails and the support phone number didn't work. (or atleast I couldn't get through) It took them 7 days to get the server back up at which time they provided NO reason for the delays or no compensation. I started to move everything on the server to the new server I bought with a different company and told them to cancel my billing, which they didn't respond to until 8days had passed and 2 days after that they billed me for a new month. Now I have blocked my creditcard and ordered a new one. and they can't issue a refund to "any card other than the one they charged" and when I asked if they could refund to paypal instead as that was the only option I had I was told to close the support ticket if there wasn't anything else. BUT, please don't take my word alone for they crappy service: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews66682.html I am not alone. Do yourself a favor and avoid a lot of headaches by staying clear.
So I bet you wish you read the reviews before signing up with them, 662 reviews is a lot. I tend to spend days reading reviews before settling on a host because I've had a lot of bad experiences myself. Thanks for the warning.
Yeah, Whats worst is that there was warning signs all the way, but you rarely notice them before its too late! I'm just glad I'm done with them and if I can prevent a couple others to get in the hole I just crawled out of it'd make it a little better
Wow, that sounds like a pretty rough experience. But yeah, I would check these companies out before signing into an agreement with one of them myself.
I would always recommend to anyone to only stick with a long lasting and reputable hosting provider. Make a request with their support before even purchasing to see how fast they respond. Don't go with someone that no one else has heard of because there is usually a reason for this. Don't be fooled by false promises and stick with someone that has been in the business for a while.
Just a little followup on this, they kept trying to charge my credit card for about 6months after I had canceled it mailing me every month that I had to log in an update my payment information. each time I followed up with a mail talling them to take me off their billing list and none of the mails were ever replied to.
To be honest, I've never heard about that and that tells enough to me... go with some well know and reputable services... testing some cheap services can cost you more than you would think...
I think that most potential customer of them will do the search for the bad reviews only. And if that one is honest review I suppose that will be very useful for them.
