likely to be true, but if you have a signature in a forum illegal, do not know the methods by which a site or a forum can be categorized as illegal

JMO but you're suggesting "offsite" links can penalize you, if this were true webmasters would be able to sabotage the competition.

Great! Now I know how to punish all my competitors and I'm going to rank N1 for casino online.
It's quite easy actually! Anyone selling sig links? :D

I totally agree with you. I always tell people "be careful who you listen to".

Anyway, I'd have to agree with the Thread Starter. I do not link to any of my juicy sites from my siggy, only new sites to get them crawled for my clients who want cheap Joomla sites and they don't want to spring for good links.

I have no notes, but I've done some testing myself and found them to hurt my serps. Coincidence? Maybe...but my serps are great!

    Hello,
Forums signature does not provide that much back linking I guess its just for getting few traffic.. Forums signature helps in getting good rank but only Do Follow.

So where is the proof about this? You can't just say something and people expect it to be true.

Its true my competitors went to page number one in 1 week! they staied there for 2 weeks and now they are on page number 10! the same techinque was used for 4 websites just one stay in 1 page! but will be flagged soon!

My industry its very competitive and we are talking about a milion pound keyword! and they are just banned!
the signatures can be used in a samart way! not 10.000 links in one day!

You remove the links and lose the benefit from those links. I would hardly call that a punishment.

Yup, I wouldn't call it a punishment either. Google may discount forum links but that's not the same as penalizing you for having it in the first place.
