Warez site?

I noticed that one of the site links was titled "GBA ROMs" and linked to www. emuvortex.net, a site that apparently offers ROMs (images of games, many commercial) for download if you register (which I didn't); this seems a bit dubious legally, and I understandably have reservations (ethical if not legal) of linking to such a site.

Could one of the mods have a look?

I'm no expert on warez/roms and I could be wrong.

Edit your post to remove the active link (change it to www domain net instead) or else your giving the site a link which it feels like you don't want to do.

emuvortex has been under scrutiny before for fake PR/cloaking but were found innocent at the time. I don't recall anyone seeing anything dubious.

I don't know much about it (warez etc.) either though...

Actually, the specific section of that site linked to was http://www.emuvortex.net/gba/roms/ .

I would hazard that it's a bit tough to make a judgment about the site in question because (1) it involves fairly domain-specific terminology (i.e., a
"ROM" is an image of [often commercial] game data/programming), and (2) from what I can tell, nothing is actually available without having registered on
that site. But I hope that you can understand the reasons for my balking at the concept of linking to such a site.

Crumbs, pr8 didn't notice that, and they disable the cache....Was the PR found to be legit then?

No but the fake PR wasn't registered by the Co-op (only their real PR) so they didn't benefit from the 8. Co-op is smarter than cheats :)

The thread's called something like 'PR Cheats' in the Co-op forums FYI.

I haven't checked the site out to read if they have any disclaimers, but my understanding is that it is ok to download and use a ROM if you own the original game. In other words you could download an old NES game to play on your pc through an emulator if you possess the original system and game. Of course if you don't then that's copyright theft.

Ahhhh, so it's clever warez then :)

    Surely this is unethical?

Clever, ethical, whatever, I wouldn't want to be linking to it that's for sure.

Good background, the thread doesn't touch on the warez issue. Apart from member commenting he uses it to download illegal warez.

Why do all my posts continually get moved to the setup and validation help?

This thread is nothing to do with either!
