Warez Portal

I am thinking of setting up a warez portal recently, never tried one of these before. Then again, I was afraid about legal issues. Help me out, thanks.

The warez portal uses WordPress, does index linking (hotfile and rapidshare). Most of the uploads to rapidshare and hotfile will be by me. I'll be getting a NL host and probably a domain in namecheap or something.

Will there be any legal issues? Seeing I have my webhost in NL and I only do index linking?

Yes, you are still subject to the laws of the land in which you live.

On top of that, I believe rapidshare is located in the US (not 100% sure though).

So, in summary, yes there could be legal issues.

Will there? It is up to the copyright owner whether or not they pursue something.

You need "bullet proof hosting" and privacy protect.

I'm in this field for a long time and i can say there isnt such things to fear unless u get a bunch of dmca every day. Wht you'd do is remove the contents according to the complaint pursue with em.

First of all you'd register a domain with privacy protected. And yeah hosting offshore preferably. Hire one dedi or vps is much good. Hosting from DE/NL are perfect for warez. They wont take you down if a dmca is received. :)

I lived in Asia, would it be a problem? Even though I have everything hosted offshore.

May I ask if it makes a difference for a forum or blog? As far as I know, if you're owning a forum you can add it in the ToS that whatever warez the user post it has nothing to do with you. How about if I were to upload the apps and post them myself, would it be more risky?

Is there any good domain with privacy protected and I am not really good with vps/dedi, can I just buy a offshore shared hosting?

A blog would be more good as in the case of a forum, you are giving chance for a big claim to raise. And yep shared hosting is good to startup but not so good when ur sites getting flourished. More traffic = More resources.

I don't quite get you, sorry for my bad English. What do you mean by a big claim to raise? There will be a bigger chance for blog warez to receive DMCA compared to forum warez?

Forum = Lot users, lot uploads, lot complaints. Where as blogs are less likely to get that much.

Get a domain with namecheap, hosting in the netherlands, and don't give out your country or other personal info. You will be safe.
