hi, i was wondering if i will get busted or anything like that if i own a warez forum which is hosted off-shore in a country that allows things like that but have the domain registered at godaddy with my account

It'd be best to check GoDaddy's Terms of Service on domain registration. Hosting a warez forum in general is a risk, even if you're hosting it off-shore as I don't know of any companies that would actually support the pirating of their software.

At the end of the day, ICANN has the final say on domain registration, so if a dispute is filed over the domain due to the content your hosting, I would say you may run into a bit of trouble.

i know lots of people who use offshore hosting for warez and it works just fine for them; they generally use whois guard for their whois information. as far as the godaddy registrar, i'd change that immediately, just because godaddy is pretty famous for ripping people's digital property right out from under them. they've done the same thing for spam, even though they were just the registrar.

There was a big story where godaddy took or put on hold someone's domain for some particular reason just because a company complained about it, I think it was a potential TM issue but wasn't or something like that, or it could've been a warez forum, can't remember.

I'd say Godaddy wouldn't be the best place if your converned about that.

And someone can report your domain name for invalid WHOIS and poof!

You sure you can guarantee that?

    http://www.enom.com/terms/agreement.asp

They have a copyright policy, too.

Let's just say, miktor, that your chances of running a domain name and kinda
site without getting shut down aren't really good. I speak from experience on
this sort of thing in my previous registrar life.

I've also read of cases where eNom shut down domain names for such. My guess
is the ones you know haven't been reported and "proven" to eNom...yet.
