I did some basic searching of this forum for previous topics, but it's way past my bedtime, so I apologize if this thread covers a topic that is no longer open for discussion.

Anyway, I see threads in the B/S/T section where people sell databases containing warez. These databases often contain serial numbers and/or download links that are meant to do one thing: violate the copyrights and intellectual property rights of the software authors. While there are many arguments that I've seen, one cannot deny that warez sites, databases, and content are unethical.

It's no coincidence that the creators of these threads often sell pirated products illegally here. Going deep into the archive of the B/S/T section brings out an interesting pattern. Often both the sellers and buyers in old warez threads are banned. There's a simple explanation for that though. Those who deal in such unethical goods often violate DP rules as well, and as a result are banned.

Doesn't it make sense that people peddling warez are also likely to be scammers. After all, they have no problem scamming the software companies they are helping to rip off by spreading warez databases. Many of the members who have illegally resold warez'd versions of my products, also sell such databases and create the very threads I am talking about. It only makes sense that those who peddle unethical warez products, would be more likely to do other unethical business practices (i.e. participate in scams)

In summery, I feel strongly that DP should no longer allow warez databases and content to be sold. It is the realm of scammers and cheaters, and nothing is good, ethical, or moral about allowing such content to thrive here. I believe that by disallowing such content, DP will be a much better and safer place to do business.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

i'm inclined to agree with you, the buying and selling of warez databases only
perpetuates the problem of illegal software. it should be disallowed.

It's not "allowed" here. At the same time, we can't ban someone just because another member accuses them of selling warez, and we don't go off on a witch hunt looking for it. You should report posts like that using the report post button to bring it to our attention. If there's proof that they're violating the copyright / trademark of someone else, only then can we go in and remove it.
