Provided the fact that people like Arundhati Roy are behind such voice, I'd say no.. (Not about Chicago Tribune..), she is a well known hypocrite..
Rob, Even if there is some truth to that article, why would Israelis "abduct" two sons of a Hamas militant Ali Muamar and leave the militant himself there? Plus, this seems to be the only source that reported this (search Google for 'Ali Muamar'). Does this seem strange to anybody?
I'm not saying I believe it to be true. I was just wondering if it had been discussed. And I agree...it does seem strange. However, and say what you want about him, I have a great deal of respect for Noam.
Israel are indeed hypocrits. They have (as I have mentioned previously) twice as many broken US reolutions than Iraq & Afghanistan combined! But I still feel that on this occasion they were right to display a show of overwhelming force. Hammas and Hezbollah have repeatedly stated they will not be happy until the state of ISrael is no more.
Agreed! Most of the planet's governments are hypocritical. Israel is able to get away with it more than most.
Can I draw your attention to the following charities please? http://www.intelligence.org.il/eng/sib/2_05/funds.htm http://www.interpal.org/
as long as there is no dialogue, war will reign because it is far far easier to start a war than to finish one!
I think you meant UN resolution, and if that, I must say UN and its resolutions are nothing but a joke... If follow UN resolution, then reply terrorism with terrorism, they send 1 suicide bomber you send 2...
Actually they started to be a joke when they could not be applicable in reality. All sort of pressure groups (mainly Arab states) with the help of the ex-soviet block pushed to make resolutions that simply could not apply in reality. Once that started their value decreased with time.
Is there an echo in here? Can you give an example of where a UN resolution hasn't been applicable in reality, or is that an opinion?
YES it was a Brain Fart of course I meant UN resolution They are all workable, but the un has become a dog with no teeth, and as such it hold no fear. My thought is political and economic alientation. The problem with this is that it is left to the people within that country to overthrow their governemnts, and this simply isn't possible without outside help, which is against the Geneva convention (as was going into Iraq (or any country) with the sole aim of removing the government) as it is illegal to deliberately destabalise any government. This of course makes Blair & Bush war criminals!
