War: America’s second best consumer of goods War is only our second best consumer of goods, our very best consumer of goods would be a factory mounted on a ship with the assembly line terminating at the ramp on the stern of the ship whereby the product can be easily dumped into the sea. Such economic prosperity can only be imagined.
If this is true, I can understand why Americans like to go for war. Almost one after another esp with Bush.
While I was still a young man I can remember reading about the argument as to how the depression of the 30s ended. The argument that seemed to win was the argument that WWII was the primary factor that ended our depression. I can remember finding this to be very confusing to me; to think that by putting everybody to work building war fighting material we were able to end one of America’s greatest economic catastrophe. War saved capitalism and America. Is war by America, but outside of America’s borders, a great economic boon? It seems that it is. Is that not an absurdity? Can we not find a way to accomplish this economic blessing without killing people? That is what has led me to conclude that a factory-on-a-ship is perhaps a far better means for economic prosperity.
