I don't think having a Blogger blog really affects much about ranking and Google indexing, and it'd be easier to get indexed just by submitting your link to different social networking sites. Submit to Digg, Delicious, Reddit, IndianPad, Mixx, and StumbleUpon and I guarentee you'll be indexed within 30 min.

twitter is a good one too. It's not very hard, just submit your link on a lot of social networks.

How about when you create same type of blog or web 20 content in other websites like wetpaint, weebly, tumblr, posterous etc.? Do those get indexed as soon as blogspot does?

You don't do 1 thing and expect Google to bother about you.
Read around this SEO sections, there are too many people saying how to get it done right.

Reading and Learning is great but having so much input into your brain and knowledge doesn't make things happen. Action is what you need to get things going.

I think I saw this trick from potpiegirl somewhere, it's good to try since its so easy to apply. Apply it with some "brain", simply posting your link on a new blogspot won't do anything faster. After all your blogspot needs to be indexed too, i.e. submit your blogspot to URL Directories too. Don't simply post 1 link with anchor text, post a summary of what you are going to link.

There are many things to do to get your site index and many of them keep repeating. You probably heard before, you probably already know. But you did not tried out all of them and keep asking for solid answers before actions.

    - blogspot backlinks as mentioned, with proper summary and links would makes more sense
    - Social Bookmarking - digg and reddit are the best bet for me
    - Article Submission - squidoo lens, hubpages are the newer ones with different platform and style that has great PR. ezine, articlebase are pure article directories
    - ping blog directories - update and notify as many blog directories so your site get more exposure, its like telling as many blog directories as you can that "hey i got a new post, here's the link"
    - Webmaster Tools and Analytic Tools, I'm not sure how you are going to believe but it makes some sense to me. When Google's Webmaster Tools and Analytic Tools sees your website, isn't that somehow indirectly means that Google noticed you? I believe these are ways that Google themselves help you to get your site indexed.

Do it! Don't just read and wait for others to try out and tell you it works, do all of them. Most of the time when people tried out, it worked, then forget to post a reply or some even don't wish to share their success. Each and individual of the methods I list above only requires less than 30 mins of work, if you're new and rather slow and still exploring. At most it would take 1hr doing each of them, do 1-2 a day. In 1-2 weeks you should have done all and even repeated few times.
If you still don't get indexed by Google, you need to learn about Google Sandbox. Where no one likes it.

for fast indexing you need to stumble upon your webpage, also try clipmarks, digg and jumptags

There is NO guarantee on how fast you can manipulate Google to index you.
My average record to get INDEX by Google and other search engines is around 2-6 days.
Brand new freshly registered domain hosted with wordpress, 2-6 days.

Simply do everything you know. The whole idea is to get indexed which is the first thing you need to get noticed.
Even before starting to build up your rankings and competing with others.
    You need to get INDEXED.

The most important and critical things would be what I mentioned.
I will point them here again to emphasis more, targeting on major search engine.
    - Google Add URL
    - Google Sitemap for Google Webmaster Tools
    - Yahoo Add URL
    - Bing Add URL
    - Sitemap for Bing Webmaster Tools
    - On Site SEO, Title, Meta tag, Keywords, URL with keyword, sitemap, web 2.0
    - PING as many blog directories as you can find
    - Submit as many RSS Feeds of your sites to RSS aggregator
    - Social Bookmark every post on as many social bookmarking sites as you can

These should be enough to make sure you get index in 7 days or less.
Some additional tips to make things easier would be:
    - Use wordpress SEO plugin
    - Add a whole list of Ping directories into Wordpress settings under Writing section
    - Change the permalink to your blog post title instead of "p=32"
    - Do 1-2 post a day once you finish setting up, as this will ping those directories as you post regularly
    - Social Bookmark every post once you posted them

If you do all these, you will create an impression to search engines that your blog is very active.
At least for the start, it has many activities going on. Which draws attention to search engines.
Shouting to them "Hey I got new updates for you!" almost every actions you do.
