I'm trying to help a recording artist build a website that will offer his music for download at a price. This is a totally new area for me and not sure what I'm looking for, what I need, how to pursue the development of his requests.

Super simple is best as it's for a single artist and his work. Any suggestions, tutorials, scripts, questions I should be asking you all can help me start researching with?

Thanks for your suggestion I use ejunkie for my ebook. What I'm looking for is a script that displays the downloads and plays samples kind of like they have on myspace on the actual web page.

You could check out BlastMyMusic.com I think they pay 65% of every song sold and there are no fees to setup or maintain an account. ever.

You might also look into SongCastMusic.com They charge $5.99 a month and a $35 setup fee per album. However, they claim to distribute your music to itunes, rhapsody, amazon, napster, etc.

Search for sites that offer free streaming. There are a couple out there. Then just grab the code and paste it on to your site.

Another way to do it is to stream the audio in your own server. Search for FREE AUDIO MEDIA STEAMER. One streamer you could try is Subsonic. It's free and can be downloaded at Sourceforge.

When you stream your audio in your own server, all you have to do is grab the code and paste it on the page where the download information about the audio is written.
