    Yeah you might want to be careful. Not sure how it works there in the UK but here in the states a wise man could bilk you for more than you expect. For example, they take the job and do little to nothing towards completing it. Once you "fire" them, they go to the department of labor and file a claim. The DOL will then chase you down and demand minimum wage payment for the time he worked on your project. After the initial phone call he won't have to raise a finger to get the money, the DOL takes care of it all.
