Want your Opinion regarding Selling a Website

    Hi everyone,

I would like your opinion on this on matter. Say you're making $1000 a month on a website (consistently), how much would you sell this website for?

Would you sell it for 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years worth of monthly income?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Sites Usually sell for 7-10 months of the income.

If you need the money now, or if you see no chance in growing, I would sell the site. Otherwise I would keep it.

Not whether you would sell, the question is how much? Small sites could go for 20 months because people speculate on potential. I've never seen steady and over-$1000-revenue sites gone for 20 months before so I would set bin at somewhere between 10-20 months.

Is to define where this revenue is coming from.
Would the new owner be able to continue getting this revenue?
If something like adsense, it really is a crap shoot as to whether the new owner will continue getting that kind of income.
If selling a product, then the new owner can continue selling that product.

I think also it depends on how much work is required. I have a site that makes about $500 per month with no work at all, maybe 10 minutes a month. A site like that is worth much more to me than a site that makes $500 per month, but I have to spend an hour or two a day on it or more.

Depending on may different variables, it could be worth anywhere between $1k and $25k, just depends. Very hard to say without seeing traffic, earnings, domain, etc. Under normal circumstances, it would be in the $7k - $12k area.

My site is pretty much hands-free, with very little advertising. The new owner would have no problem running it on his/her own as long as he is somewhat familiar with affiliate networks and Google Adsense.

Thanks for your feedbacks guys. You guys brought up a lot of good points to consider.

Length of revenue history and type of traffic would be important factors.

To add on to that, I would also consider the resources require to run the site. e.g. hosting, man hours for content, any additional advertising, etc.
Whatever price you are asking for, be sure to justify it with stats and revenue.
