Hello DP, I own a forum where I used PHPBB script, but now I want to switch the forum to Vbulletin 4.XX. Just wanted to know, will I loose all topics and registered users?? I would really appreciate you if you provide me information in bit details.... Thanks,
Hiya, If you have a legal Vbulletin license i know that Vbulletin in there client have area have there own transfering program which will transfer all the php data (users, posts, forums , topics etc etc) and moves it all over to the vbulletin , i think all people have to do then is request a new password and thats it, But vbulletin defently have there oown transfering tool.
Which version of phpbb? http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/impex_phpBB3 Version supported : 3.0.0 Usergroups Default permissions. Users Majority of profile. Not passwords (username, email, joindate, ipaddress last activity, lastvisit) Forums and Categories All are currently imported as visible and open. Threads All are currently imported as visible with open & sticky state. Posts All are currently imported as visible with IP. Private Messages Currently all PM's are stored as sent and recived for each user. Attachments Imported and attached to posts. Moderators Imported and attached to forums.
Just use the free impex script that comes with vbulletin. The only thing that will not be converted are the passwords. If you go tothe vbulletin.com forum there is a lot of information about using the impex script. I used it a few years ago to convert an SMF forum to VB, everything went good with no issues.
Admittedly, vBulletin does not have the best transferring system, but as long as you don't have a lot of phpBB Modifications installed on your forum, the transfer will go just fine.
