As it's been said a countless amount of times here: the best niche is the one you are interested in. Having said that there are higher earning niches such as dating, tech, making money online, health, insurance, etc... on the flip side to this, the higher earning niches generally have a much higher level of competition. You can make money with probably ANY niche, if done right.

Do a niche that interests you and you have knowledge about. No use trying to do something you know nothing about because it will only make it harder for yourself. There are many profitable niches but you don't always have to goto the popular ones to make money.

You want to start a site purely for monetising and commercialising it?

Yep, go with something you a passionate about. Unless you have intentions to sell the site, your won't keep an interest in the site long enough to really monetize it to the best of its ability. If you intend on holding onto the site for a long time, do something your familiar and passionate about. First for the fun, then transfer it over and make it profitable.

If you want to just put up a site and promote it, check out More Niche. They offer high paying commissions on products like weight loss.

Plus, they have a lot of free tools, including free templates and landing pages. Takes very little time to get up and going with their products.

Niches that would generate an income will range from Diet and Weightloss, Courses (example teaching people to use .paint) or something like that. Gaming, music lessons etc. You can join google groups and see what people talk about or need or go browse yahoo answers and see what is popular. Good niche sites can also include, how to find out if your partner is cheating, teen relationship advice type of product etc. It's a matter of finding what people want in terms of information and supplying it to them.

It's a hard niche to monitize but people want to know about things that are free. With the credit crunch, sites that compile free offers, promotional deals and coupons, samples, that sort of thing are very popular with many people.

Please read what TheNoose has said very closely. Here's my two cents.. Based on your initial thread - you already have the completely wrong mindset to begin marketing anything online. Nobody is going to give you the best of anything, and "the best" is completely subjective - so stop asking around for it.

Secondly, If you are building a website and your only goal is to make money, and that's all you think about, you will never make more than a few pennies. You need to have a plan, be ready for a commitment, and stick to it. Money doesn't fall out of trees, there is no magic niche or method, and your website needs TLC on a daily basis, just like anything else.

Please take a step back and re-think about where your mindset is at.

I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but I really feel for people starting out who have it all wrong. And it's not your fault because all you're reading is sales copy and bullshit hype all over the Internet. Everybody is talking about a secret, and push button, and magic formula...
