I recieved the first player donation of 80$ in the 2nd month of my server running, big servers make 50-500$ a day! Image how much we can make from selling advertisements and PPC ads! - Old server's website archieved a 250k alexa rank in no time. - My server grew HUGE within 2 months, we grew bigger than servers that were 2-3 years old! (this is because of my dedicated and hard work) + Finally, I will setup the server and advertise it, I will design the website and put your links in it if you want, I will keep you updated on whats going on, you just put the dedicated server (we can't grow big without one). You're adding too much, I can get a 2GB P4 @ 2.8ghz with 100mbps switch port uplink for $100, its fine for the first 1-3 months, after that you can upgrade using the money made from donations and selling ads The competition with gameservers is small, as I said above I was getting 500UV a day (plenty of new players daily, more donations) by submitting to 3 toplists only
Any specific questions? I already listed the ways money is made from a gameserver (player donations in exchange for game items, also advertisements on server website), I just need that $100 from someone to invest for a dedicated server(if you own a server yourself and want to host the game then there's no money needed). I can see how excited you are about this, but I thought I should give you heads up before you go deep into this. 1) Never cross the thin line or ncsoft will hunt when your big enough to be hunted! 2) You better be 24/7 dedicated to this or you will fail! 3) Choose your l2j pack very carefull, as an expert, i suggest you go with l2jfree pack! 4) Do not give the donators so much +++! Everyone will end up leaving and you will end up with a few donators parked in towns! 5) Prepare yourself for hackers, cheaters, gameguard errors, bugs...the list goes on and on! 6) Never open more than one server even if it sounds right, trust me, its not!! 7) Pick your GM's very carefull and dont give them access more than they need! 8) If you start giving special items to special people, your server will be dead in less than a week! 9) I know your here tring to raise some money to start but trust me, you dont need partners, specially if they dont know anything about these gaming servers! You will make money, all private servers make money but most of them go down after a month or two. It depindes where you spend the money. Network comes first, then your personal needs! Topsites are good but its for noob admins. Go after the source, its easy to get top rankings in google, since most l2 admins have no idea what SEO stands for $100 is nice for a small server, but if you grow fast. You will need to switch to softlayer.com servers and get yourself a $200 server! 2GB is a good start but I recommand 4GB in the future. P4 @ 2.8ghz is good for a start. 100mbps port speed is perfect but im not sure if the hosting company has good uptime! Keep in mind if your server net connection goes down 1 second, all players are disconnected and the gaming server shuts down until you login and start it! Anyway, 2 things are the most important when buying a server: RAM and HDD! Oh, you think 500 UV per day is too much lol The minute you server becomes huge, your site itself will need its own dedicated web server! lol Good Luck!
For the server that you are talking about I have seen them listed on DP for half that. Also if you do a lot more research on this field and can show me some proof that you can really do this then I might be willing to lend you 1 of my servers. PM me with the full details on how this works and what the perks are and If I would be getting anything out of the deal besides some advertising.

If he pulls this out, he can easily get 5000 unique visitors per day, his site will even be the top in google and even an authority site if hes a good seo. Anyway, from money point of view, this is not about pagerank or traffic or google or anything to do with webmasters. This is a gaming server where people play for free and "donate" for "special ingame items". This is where the big money comes from! It may sound easy but its not. I mean he has to spend all his time ingame fixing/answering/solving..etc Building a good website and advertising it will become his least of concerns! I think he can do it because according to him he HAD a server before with 100 players, which means he went through all this and knows what coming in his way. The question is: What happend to the server you had?
Thanks for your input I don't think NCSoft will get involved, I mean, did any servers grab their attention, after L2Extreme? I've put a lot of effort in my old server, I added custom stuff, made an economy system from scratch, had some stuff that none made before. I used Oneo on my first server, then switched to l2jfree and now I am going to use l2jfree again. I wish I could restore my old modded files. This is common sense, I am doing it mostly for the bucks but you know when there is a limit and when you will I am aware of problems that I'll encounter but since I did this before things will be easier. What about opening new servers when you grow big enough (and not L2 exclusively, maybe a WoW server, and grow to a whole MMORPG gaming network) I know, picking GMs is a hard job. I think you are right about partnership, I will have to think about this. I started gameservers to make money, but now that I have daily income (around $20/day and growing), the only way my server will be brought down is of NCSoft being involved, I will not run out of money, I will not get bored or frustrated, I am planning to reign in the L2 industry Also, You are right about SEO but topsites will give you a kick-ass warm start-up!
