Want to promote internal page but Promote home page, Y ?

I have a 1 more query. Sometimes we promote any internal page to take a specific key word, but on same keyword our homepage promoted by google. I mean suppose i want to promote my ABC site's internal page www.ABC.com/pqr.html on keyword xyz. But after some days in Google my site's homepage www.ABC.com shows 1st page on keyword xyz and my internal page www.ABC.com/pqr.html shows on 2nd/3rd page on same keyword. i worked for internal page but promote my homepage.

Y it happenes ? Whats d reason? Pls define it wid details.

Your home page is much stronger then that particular internal page. If your site is very new that that can be the issue. If not, make internal page more related to the quiery and make more inbound links, particulary with anchor but not just with the right anchor. Use others, too.
It's hard to give precise answers without seeing particular pages but I hope this will help a bit.

yes indeed, you might be having those keywords more in Homepage compared to the internal page your are promoting and this happens for the first time and next time you can see the internal page in search results.

 

Its means your site's home page more healthy than internal pages with that targeted keywords. If you want to change home page by internal page.... Just put related content on internal page that target your keyword. After that do off page activities with your internal page and targeted keyword. Hope you will get result soon... Good Luck!!

This is because your home page structure, keyword density is better then the internal one. Your internal page targeting work is also helping the home page as well that is the second reason why home is stable on the page one.

 

Wtf?

 

The last time I checked my analytics, 89% of my search engine traffic was going to internal pages, not to the home page. You achieve this (which sounds like what you are wanting to do) by excellent use of keywords on those inner pages (in title tags and content), also in links pointing to those inner pages.

Yeah, that has happened to me too as my site is still quite young and not very strong.
