So I'm pretty new to copywriting but fell in love the idea of advertising after reading David Ogilvy's book On Advertising. In his books he's always talking about selling the ads, making them elegant, having a strong headline, etc. I don't know if I'm intimidated or I literally have almost zero experience when it comes to the craft, but what are some of the best practices when it comes to writing? Currently I go to pexels.com and look for an image that's interesting and try to write copy for it.
Try to read a new and interesting content then create your own story with your signature within to produce great content.
There was a time when writing was a big part of how I made a living, I learnt a few things. First off you need to get the grammar, punctuation and spelling perfect. Nothing turns people off faster than a "writer" who screws up. Then you need to write the way you speak. Don't be a phony and write to con or deceive. You must make the reader not only like you but trust you. Studying behavioral psychology will help you with this, try it.
The easiest way to get good at something is to spend a lot of time doing it. There are great books with tips and tricks but to become a great writer you must write, a lot. If we're talking blog/internet headlines you should try to write them as if someone googled for the information that's in the blog post.
Take any random ad and ask yourself, How can I rewrite this ad in a better way? I think with this you would improve your skills.
Bingo! Writing copy with poor grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, etc., is like creating a website with incorrect HTML. It just doesn't work. Wow, to get banned with only one post may be a new speed record!
The only way to get banned faster would be to register, then get banned right away without making any posts at all.
Get this, @qbhelpdeskphonenumber registered and 3 minutes later was banned without making a single post!
The mods are on the ball with some members who attempt to make a comeback by coming through the back door. IP addresses are red flagged I think with a few members.
With your poor command of the English language, you are not one of the competitors he needs to be "afraid" of.
Certainly, but my message have been addressed not to you. And, by the way, the main thing is not always the "command of the language" but the idea itself.
This is *Copywriting* forum and command of the English language is what we consider as paramount here as well as punctuation, grammar and spelling.
Your English is truly lousy, but at least you are polite and big enough to admit that your English is sub standard. Keep posting and try to improve. This will happen with time, good luck to you with all.
