Hey i have a wordpress site that i use to offer free downloads.... And i was wondering if anyone knew anyway to monitor these downloads and monetize them... for instance... require people to complete an affiliate offer after a certain number of downloads... another idea i had was to have interstial or popup ads load when the download is clicked... but i am not sure how to do this because i dont want those annoying ads on all my pages. but im not stuck on doing either of those ideas... im kinda just looking for ideas to monetize my free downloads... and how to do them too. so im basically wondering if anyone knows how i could do any of those ideas i suggested and looking for new suggestions. thanks a bunch. you dont know how much your helping me cuz adsense is killer these days and i need a new source of income. thanks!
If I were you,I would get their name and email and build a email list (if the niche isn't warez ).That way I would not lose many visitors due to annoying popups and the kind.
im not really a big fan of emails... and i have a very high visitor return rate. so yeah. i just want some popups or interstitials to appear only on the download page.
I've got a site that gets about 500-1000 unique downloads per day, I host the files on Uploading.com and they pay me for each download. It won't make you rich, but it all adds up
wow that seems like it will work perfectly... i figure i get about 1000 downloads a day so this could work out perfectly.
actually i just realized that the files have to be over 1 megabyte.... a few of my files are over 1 mb but for the most part they are around 500 kb. so that probably wouldnt work. but thanks for the tip.
Premium memberships, add CPA offers before download, CPALead and Zangocash gateways. But they will hurt your visitors.
if I may.... what sort of files are you downloading - as stupid and counter-intuitive as it may seem, you could likely just bundle a file with your download that was a silly PDF linking back to your website, or something extra for them that would just barely push it past the 1mb mark. It's so counter-intuitive to make downloads bigger on purpose, but when we're talking 1mb that's still not a lot even for dial-up internet.
