    Hi,
I have a blog type website which i had initially built using joomla but now i am looking to convert it to wordpress before i start really working on it. Now there are not many posts..just 4-5 i think..while i have downloaded the migration script from rangit.com, since there are no posts that i really need, i am thinking of deleting the whole site account and then create a new one in which i will install wordpress...i have one stupid question..will i be affected viz-a-viz the search engines if i do that (dont know the reason why i should be..but search engines do work in a funny way :))

    Thanks

almost certainly. If old posts or have accrued links over time and you change to a new blog platform, the URL structure will change. This means that links that pointed to old posts will no longer pass any value because the SE will simply hit a 404 error page when it follows an old link.

To overcome this, you must 301 redirect all old URL's to the matching new one.

However, if you are certain none of your posts have links pointing to them from other websites, you would not need to worry about having to redirect old URL's.
