I have a website. And Its in English, but I want it also avaliable in Japanese - Is that possible? is it hard to do?
You can add this to your site, Babel Fish But there are more elegant ways of achieving similar affects, they are harder to implement, and I am sure somebody else is more knowledgeable than me in that area and could therefore assist you further.
There are a couple of ways to achieve what you want, the most common is simply to effectively have two copies of your site, one under www.yoursite.com/en/something and the other www.yoursite.com/jp/something. The advantage of this is the fact for most languages you can have the URLs themselves in the alternative language to help with the SEO. The other option is to use culture settings which will make editing easier as there is only one version of the site simply with the copy in different languages... easier to maintain but does mean the file names are only in a single language though some URL rewriting can help with this
I'd actually get a Japanese TLD and then put the Japanese version of the site on that, rather than messing with multi-language versions on the same site, then put the Japanese language site on a server hosted in Japan so that the Japanese version will appear to be more relevant and specific in country-specific searches.
Ok cause that assumes that the target japanese speakers are actually in japan, if you are aiming at the jap speakers in the USA (or elsewhere) where the rest of your customer base is then it is extra cost and most likely a loss in SEO for that market
You never specified that in your first post, hence my suggestion of the country-specific version. Now that you've mentioned it, I'd still get the country-specific TLD, but redirect it to a subdomain on your main site. Best of both worlds.
