Best thing I did was to install it on some web hosting and tinker with it until I learnt how to use it :D

    Thanks,
I have hosted WordPress before and blogged with it. But that is not the learning way. Need to learn coding, design, editing. I need a guide line about from which part I should start learning. Also I am not a full time coder. I just have basic coding ideas.

Yes.... I need to know which one I should start first... HTML or CSS. My calculation says I should start CSS first. What do you say?

Start off by learning HTML and CSS, then get a basic understanding of PHP. If you have that down start designing your first WordPress theme. See which parts you struggle with and learn some more PHP. Rinse and repeat until you build a good looking functional theme from scratch.

w3schools is the way to go. Start with html, that is the website structure for any other web based tools you will use - css, php, java ect..
