There are several sites provides photoshop tutorials. You can learn from any site. I would like to suggest you go to youtube.com and see photoshop tutorial videos. Its most effective for you. you will learn easily.
youtube is the best for starting out,if you google tho you can find plenty of tutorials,just be specific in google in the type of images you want to create,such as 'photoshop sig tutorial' etc on youtube there is a guy there tht is quite good,and entertaining at the same time,search for 'I suck at photoshop' on youtube

If this is immediate- I would start with AdobeTV? online itself. Also Photoshop Lab has a basic tool overview and you can find it with google online. I took an on-line class from a community college and on campus then I explore places like forums like this to learn more complicated topics. I think the best way to learn if you want to teach yourself is to get a good book. Deke McClelland is the best. Adobe also makes their own. they are kind of dry, but will teach you how to do it. Again from there you can go on-line to find more specific ways to do things. Or more details. But to get the basics, I think a book or class is best. Deke does allot of the tutorials at Lydia.com. Lydia is the ultimate in web learning.

there are loads of great photoshop tutorials all over the web - just search for 'photoshop tutorials' - my personal favorite is Creative Cow
Or you can always splash out for a PS book - that's how I learnt - the Adobe Classroom in a Book series are really good - good luck!
Thank you guys for your kind support, I've gone through some of the tutorials here and i found it really interesting. Now i can proudly say that "I know something about photoshop" its a very friendly tool. We can make wonders with it just by learning the basic tools. The tutorials has helped me a lot.
