    There are a lot of places to learn chess. Purchase a book? Look for an e-book? Google some tutorials? When I learnt chess, I was bought a book by my parents, 13 years ago. It all depends on your learning style... do you prefer to learn by doing, or by studying

    but why chess, chess is boring. Better to learn Arimaa or Chinese Checkers or Go.. or whatever.

    The best way to learn chess is from practice. I suggest that you attempt to play it with computer. First start with easy, then medium and finally hard. Then you will actually be able to play with talented human players.
