    Yes, it really is. And since Amazon doesn't shout "WAIT - YOU CAN GET ALL THIS FANCY STUFF AND BECOME MILLIONAIRE AND BLAH BLAH BLAH AND BUY AND BUY MORE"...

    ...instead, they have nice looking design on a page that displays like 9 or whatever more products and tells you "Other customers who purchased the stuff you also liked these, perhaps you'd like to check them out".

    And... that keeps me buying more from them :D

    While it's true, Amazon uses this method of marketing like many other companies. They're not the ones who invented it. Catalog companies have been using this concept for over 50 years at least.

    Many of the "super duper marketing secrets" today are based on something that was invented decades ago. I actually read one "salesperson's guide" from like 1950 or something. Was pretty interesting read. "Customer care" and "making sure you have clean clothes" were fun to watch ;) ...some of the principles have survived this far.

    And no wonder Amazon uses them - they work.
