Hi, I'm a newbie over here, Google has indexed some incorrect pages, now I want to get them de indexed from google SERPs now. I guess, that can be done through google webmaster tool but can you tell me which specific feature of webmaster tools will help me in this regard. Thanks!
Well if you have deleted those pages and want to take it off google, then don't worry, slowly google will take it off. it takes time though.
Site configuration > Crawler access > Remove URL Make sure it follows their guidelines though: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=59819&hl=en
Once you remove the URL, be sure to remove the pages as well. Another way of looking at it would be to bring in new traffic by setting up a 301 redirect. This will basically send all traffic looking for the pages you want removed to be redirected to your home page. You'll still gain the traffic exposure from the SE's, but Google will soon realize the mistake and remove those pages from the listings once the bots can crawl the links and find the 301 redirect.
Make sure you add the page in "robots.txt" as a disallowed page before you use webmaster tools to request to remove it. Here's FaceBook's robots.txt for an example. If you haven't got one then add it now!
