Look at whom you have joined, see which side you are on. Like the others you use smear and innuendo. If you want to debate reasonably, I will, but there seems little appetite on here for that. Lies and twists is more the mark. And I did say to you "it just makes you look more and more like", meaning you behave more and more like them. Bitter and twisted. You want an example of looking bitter, re-read your comments about the thread you started in the internal forum.
Excuse me ? And are you on the right side ? So you think you speak nicely and educated that people would think that you are a prophet ? Man , just take a look at the mirror and wipe your dirt off your face maybe that would help. You and your fellows maybe are the ones that needs help.
Hey Jude, glad to see that you have changed your avatar back. A small child with his finger up his nose really suits you.
oh my heavens... I just noticed that avatar picture... what was the picture before ?? I can tell a difference in DMOZ listed quality sites - over some of those really poor quality mfa sites out there that can't make the DMOZ cut... ~DomainBELL (Patricia)
Yes, but can you tell the difference between in the DMOZ listed MFA sites - over some of those high quality sites out there that didn't make the DMOZ cut?
Someone has asked me for the URLs of my two sites that were approved. Here is one of them http://www.treetrail.net Because the other site supports a controversial social cause, I prefer not to post it. But it is about twice as big with about twice as much content. Also, like the first site, it has no ads and nothing to sell.
Adds don't automatically bar a site. But if a site is full of adds it would be difficult to have much unique content and its unique content that really counts. Presentation should not be an issue, guidelines say that, we look for unique content. And I am sure that people can post sites here that don't meet that criteria, but if you want to get in then that's the best advice after that ensure that your site is offered to the correct category, reading the description (where there is one) carefully and then check other listed sites to see what sort of description is being used and follow the style. Don't try and stuff the description with key words. If you had 50 sites to review for listing and half an hour to spare and most of them had descriptions stuffed with key words and one had followed the category charter advice and offered a description like the ones in that category and could be listed without any time being spent on it, which one would you work on?
Whilst I agree that a quality sites is a factor in being accepted I think an even bigger factor is availability of editor resources to actually review and add a site. I am sure that many higher quality sites remain in "the queue" and that many may never get added. If DMOZ was somehow to open up a little, allow more editors in, they would reduce the backlog and any claims of corruption as there would be little or no queue to jump. Overall I think many editors at DMOZ do a great job, but there just isnt enough of them. Perhaps DMOZ should charge for reviewing a site, then they could recruit paid editors and re-establish themselves? ... just a thought
Paying people who volunteered to edit would be practically admission that corruption is out of control and editors only care about money, as I have suggest long time ago payments should go to maintenance of DMOZ and all extra cash to charity - that way editor work will be much more then listing websites and should attract many more true editors instead of horde of loser who would want to make some quick cash by listing spam.
There are often suggestions about payment to editors, for listings, for advertising. Mostly this is in the lap of AOL, but personally I prefer no payment to editors, no advertising and free reviews. There is an element of truth in your comment about sites being listed, but if you do not have unique content and get listed then some bad editing has taken place.
Woooo Hooooo one of my sites got listed! I didn't expect it to, but for kicks I submitted my dadz.com site a month or so ago and just coincidentally discovered a backlink from DMOZ a few minutes ago! Now I know some of you think it's just a worthless link, but I choose to believe there is value... so WOOOO HOOOO! P.S. No bribery involved. Just a directory for dads submitted to the correct 'Fathers' category within the Parenting cats.
Congtratz it seems you followed the advice of the OP here, even before he posted it. It's always nice to get listed in a directory that you submit too without needing to wait years. So I'm happy for you!
As a DMOZ editor I can tell you create unique content, for example, i don't approve following web sites, if content is not unique, if there is too much ads. in my category, more than 50 percent of visitors submit web sites created with a stupid javascript game, they find javascript game, put it to page, submitting to dmoz and we don't accept it
General Directory listed in Regional UK = That is a joke and slipped right in. Guess I have to submit to that category to let them know and if they list that site they might as well list mine.
Actually good for you. I tried to get my Linkspub business directory in there after we did some major major programing. I was so confident cause we got stuff in there which really is awesome like our cool little search feature & polls. Motsa told me, no way, u can't get no re-evaluation. Jim Noble said something like 'Your directory' doesn't seem to user friendly, budalatta which checked my directory told me that it's empty, and after I told him about the big sign on the page saying you gotta go to page 2 to see regular listings, I guess it was against his ego to cope. Here's the thread right here http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47985 After that I just said heck with it. I don't want any of my sites into that directory. It wasn't even worth the time trying to explain to them, checking on frequent basis if my site is there. Actually Yahoo Directory & Business.com are kinda good, actually much busier then and will send you lots more traffic then dmoz.
