What do you want to do with the learning from the course?

For work with commercial organisations .Net is more likely to be of use. For Freelance, working with SMEs etc then PHP. For hobby/ self stuff then either is fine, PHP has more free examples to use but .Net is generally quicker if coding from scratch.

    Hi,
One great site you might like to check out is: http://apex.vtc.com/php-basic.php
They offer video training on subjects including both php and dot net - with starter samples you can watch for free.
Maybe a good place to get an idea of what is involved?
If you can already program in other languages, no reason why you can't give both a try?
But I agree with the previous reply, that you may first want to decide who your customers / employers are and what they would want you to do?

PHP if you like freelancing and work from home. .NET if you are more job oriented and like to hold a good job position. Hope that helps. But if you are very good at anything, you can usually make things work for you out of the box.

In dotnet, you won't have the control and power that you have in PHP. Just my opinion....

Just spending more money studying course in any institute is mere waste. If you see lynda.com there are many video tutorials and their subscription also a lot cheaper.

It depends what you want to do. PHP is mainly for writing software with user-interactive functions. If you just want to make websites, learn xHTML and CSS. If you want to be able to create contact forms and user systems, learn PHP. If you are interested in cosmetic form validation and animations, learn javascript and a framework such as jquery.

Actually, it depends what u want to do. Work from home or do a job. I don't think any institute will teach u PHP or .Net directly. They will teach u programming basics first.

Both languages have their own advantages and disadvantages.
