Hi, I want to create a site where people can buy and download ebooks. I was thinking of using Ubercart and then changing it a bit. I want it to be very, very simple. I need it to be a marketplace, so that people can upload books, and other people can download it. About how much hours would this take? I would like to know because i want to hire someone. i want it to be just very simple. Also, do you know of any other good marketplace software for downloadable products? Thank you, Luke
Allowing others to sell things and control their area if you will requires a "multi vendor" shopping cart such as http://www.x-cart.com/mall_solution.html running the shop yourself is much cheaper and can be done with anything from wordpress to Magento. Basically anything that will deal with digital downloads. hope that helps, Nigel
I just developed an e-book site: sharepub.info Share Publication (Pub) is very simple. 1. You just send us an email using the contact form below. Attach a PDF version of your book or story. 2. Tell us what genre it falls under (using the list we have). Also provide a one or two sentence caption and include a one paragraph description of your book. 3. We will upload your book and create a page for it in the appropriate section. We’ll also email you the link. 4. We record how many times your publication has been downloaded. At the end of the month, we divide our income with all our writers. Writers are paid based on how many downloads they got compared to the total downloads. So, if your book got 100 downloads a month, and the total downloads was 1000, you would get 10% of the total money the site makes that month. If the site makes $2,000 that month, you would get $200. Note: PayPal has very strict terms of usage. PayPal does not allow us to cheat anyone, so we will not cheat you in any way!
Good thought.E-books market over mobile is a booming stage at this time. Hope you will do very soon. Thanks xolo
Hey Luke, just set up my own eCommerce site for books (health books). Took me about 40 hrs. so far. I'll be adding eBooks very shortly. You can check me out by Googling "Apple Publishing"
