Want to design a social network like face book need guidance??

    Templates or software does not get you a site like facebook. You need to learn how to program. PHP ASP or Python are good starts. Like Python with django myself and they have some python frameworks beginning to pop up for social networks not that they are going to have the capacity, performance or all the features of facebook

    Actually thats wrong, there are many template based open source software that will help you create social networking sites. Here is just one : boonex.com/products/dolphin

    If you google "Spcial Networking Software" you will find a TON!

    You are wrong. I stand by my statement. The OP stated that he wanted to design a social network like Facebook. Popping in a script does not make you able to design "a social network like Facebook". this is a common myth. You cannot simply pop in a dolphin script to design a social network like facebook. You can get a social network but it will not be like facebook.

    If the op writes or really wants just a social network then he can of course use a number of scripts but if he wants the network to be like facebook and not just like a social network he will have to have or employ someone with programming knowledge to modify things. Facebook has a number of things including an API that allows all kinds of valuable and enriching features to be added to it thereby making it way different from a vanilla social network

    Well if that was his intention, then I do agree with you, but it seems that he just wants a social networking site and he just used a popular one as a point of reference. Obviously he wont have the entire functionality of facebook out of the box from any script! There you are definitely correct!

    Hey, how you doing? Trust me, if you want to make a Social Network, Do not use Ning. Ning is an overprotected network where you have to pay for a lot of stuff to have your site customize like you want. You can't have the facebook theme with Ning, but if you use SocialGo,and its free also. I know somebody who can sell you a facebook them and its look exactly like facebook.
