Unsure if this is where it should be listed/posted:

I'm interested in writing an e-book and selling online through one of my new unlaunched sites. If anyone out there has done this before you can reply or send me a PM. I'm assuming their is some software out there that can help in formating etc and would like a few links of what some of you might use or recommend.

    Are they hard to promote?

    Thanks in advance,

Most people create/format the ebook in Word and then convert it to a pdf using a tool such as http://convert.neevia.com/ which is free.

You could also produce an exe ebook but pdf seems to be the most popular type.

You could just use Paypal but it is better to sell on a marketplace for increased exposure, plus affiliates can promote your ebook for a commission.

A few options for selling on a marketplace:
    www.Clickbank.com (Paypal + CC)
    www.Paydotcom.com (Paypal)
    www.Payloadz.com (Paypal)

Does anybody have any experience with getting a sponsor for your e-book? Are comapanies willing to pay for that? Where do you put the sponsor logo, etc?
note: this is for e-books that i will be giving away to leads, etc.

Another way to create a PDF ebook is to use openoffice. It has a decent PDF export feature. If you don't have the spare funds around for Acrobat

I am currently working on my first ebook and have been doing some research on creating one.

These are the sites which I have bookedmark for the project which you may find interesting too.

    http://www.pdfonline.com/
    http://www.selfpublishebooks.com/
    http://www.knowledge-download.com/writing-ebook-articles.html
    http://www.pdf995.com/
    http://www.lulu.com/

Another thing I am interested in, is pricing, on lulu.com the ebooks are heavily discounted against the paperback books, I take it because the production cost is less but on sites such as clickbank they tend to be the same price as a paperback book, I take it to pay for the affliates. I would like to create a physical book and an ebook but do not want to underprice or overprice either. I am a bit confused at the moment as to what price to sell at.

great info thanks! How do you find it creating your first ebook? I simply have some experiences I want to share and found a passion in creating websites. I think its to do with my fathers career in newspapers sparked my interest in reading/writing.

The major thing about clickbank is the affiliate commission. A lot of people there put things at 50-75% commission for affiliates, so prices have to be a bit higher.
