Want to change my domains/hosting around

    Hi all,

I want to sort out my domains and hosting and it is confusing how to work it out best.

I currently have my main domain with namescheap and hosting with hostgator. All my other domains are with godaddy and are addon domains to my main domain.

What I would like to do is drop my main domain and set up one of my addon domains as the main domain.

Can anyone help with how this should be done. Also, I do not want to lose any of the websites by them going offline if possible, or as little as possible if not. Also, how would this affect directs and database access. Would these also need to be changed?

    Thanks in advance.

This needs to be handled by your host, normally. It's just a matter of changing the main domain in cPanel, and setting up the others as add-ons. It's not usually something you can do on your own.

Thank you for the post. I have found that hostgator now allows you to make the changes yourself so I think I will get online support to walk me through it.

Yes your host should be able to do this for you or walk you through it.
