How much you earn is totally depend on your pricing method for example if you sell at $2/month then you earn $1/month.
But if you sell $10/month then you earn $9/month

If I was in the market for reseller hosting I would look at:

    hostgator.com
innohosting.com (can provide end user support direct to your clients)
    geekstorage.com or
    powermonster.net

How much you make depends on your pricing and sales levels.
If you pay innohosting $17/month then anything you make over $17/month is profit.
Ten hosting clients at $5 each= $50-$17=$33 profit.
You can probably make about $1-2 profit per domain sale depending on your pricing.
Note that this is a very competitive market and it's not easy to get clients.

earnings will vary according to ur clients, in starting u will need to get some clients at low price in order to recover ur running cost then u will start getting profit.

don't expect profit from first month. you will need to advertise ur services.

Best thing to do is to get local clients of ur city. they are easy to get.

    There is nothing like unlimited.

Even if someone is offering you unlimited then also the Server has some limit.

At the end of the day you will be spending more on unlimited than a limited space account.

plus if you sell domain through your domain reseller account or register domain yourself on any domain registrar then ofcourse you can earn money (For eg. you register domain at godaddy for your client and charge $12 per domain from your client, then you will earn around $3 per domain)

And regarding unlimited, there is only one thing to say : Stay Away from unlimited plans.

Anyone can provide you unlimited hosting, even I can but then how much actually you will be getting for which you can claim ???

Say Someone gave you unlimited and the HDD filled up even in 5 GB data then how can you claim because there was nothing specific in terms of HDD. And In TOS of unlimited accounts it is clearly written you can't use 100% of Server Resources then that means if you are using full Hard Disk then they have the right to terminate your account.

    Be careful.

I agree with Bohra, almost 95% of unlimited don't last and those who last they keep terminating account of those members who are using a lot of resources.

As far as godaddy is conccern, they offer unlimited hosting to customers not to resellers.

There is a big difference between unlimted Hosting to customers and unlimited hosting to resellers.

For customers even if they have unlimited then also they will use it for their personal site only which at any cost won't be higher than 2-5 GB (since almost all host does not allow file hosting, video hosting etc.)

But with resellers if they have unlimited hosting they can create 1000s of 20Gb Hosting accounts and then sell it really cheap and if 50% of them use about 2-4GB then that means a space of 1000-2000 GB and consider that other users will also take some space then do u expect that any one has so much space on their server, and even if they have then do you think that they can offer you so much space for $10-$30 per month ???

Make sure you find the right reseller who is trustworthy and won't run away after one week of hosting. I was conned once by paying $30/year for an "unlimited" package. The fella ran away without informing me anything about it. Fortunately, the real owner of the hosting contacted me and I have been paying them at monthly rates ever since.

The effort and time consuming of running your own server for your particular sites or for a few customers is not worth event to try. That's my opinion, you can try to feel what it taste. ;)

if u want to make ur own server :

You will need an ISP who provides good upload speed (around 10 Mbps) with static ip and allows you to host your server(95% don't allow)

Then you will need 24 Hour electricity or backup facility.

A good server to be able to host website (Quad core processor with plenty of RAM)

Then you will need to get Windows or Linus as your OS, you will also need a Control Panel Software (costs around $15 per month), plus billing scrript. Thats all you will need.

Better You can rent a VPS for around $10 per month, get a control panel & your server would be ready.

But for starter Reseller is good. Once you gain clients then go for upgrades.

Two years back I started with reseller, being new to business I paid a reputed board $50 for unlimited reseller but after 1 month thhey closed down. Then I started paying monthly to another Service provider, later on I moved to VPS & now after 1 year, i have 2 dedicate servers plus around 30 direct clients (my clients, not counting my resellers clients)

The price of server depend on what kind of spec you buy.
The higher the spec the more expensive.
If you are new,i would recommend you start off from reseller hosting.

If you have to ask then you probably don't have enough experience to manage one. It might be wiser to learn the ropes by starting with a reseller account or possibly running a reseller business on a VPS.
